Rachel Britton
Rachel Britton (they/them) is a nonbinary photographer and musician based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Born a triplet (with an identical twin and fraternal twin), they often switched places when they were young. Britton references multiplicity in their creative process by building composite images and using repetitive elements in their photographs. Though working primarily in the digital photographic medium, Britton is expanding their practice to cinema and creating their own sound effects on the trombone.
Britton graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in photography from Grand Valley State University. As an undergraduate Britton organized and performed in drag art shows at Electric Forest Festival, ArtPrize HUB, Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts, and Grand Valley State University. Britton has been featured in Billboard, Horrid, and Broccoli Magazine, with upcoming contributions to Paraphilia Magazine and Photodarium Private 2022. Britton has received awards from N.Y. Photo Curator, American Advertising Awards, and Photographer's Forum Magazine.
