Accessibility Statement

Cabane à Sang (cabaneasang.tv) is committed to making our horror and genre cinema accessible to as many people as possible — the dark should be welcoming to everyone. We are a small Québec non-profit run by volunteers, and we are working to make our platform, catalogue, and festival pages usable by people with disabilities.

Our commitment and the standard we follow

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the W3C. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

Scope

This statement applies to the website at cabaneasang.tv, including the streaming player, the film catalogue, filmmaker and festival pages, and account and submission flows. As a bilingual site, we work toward accessible content in both French and English.

Measures we take

  • We consider accessibility as part of our ongoing improvements to the site.
  • We are progressively addressing structural items such as a skip-to-content link and a clear main content landmark.
  • We are working to improve colour contrast across pages and the player so text meets the recommended contrast ratios.
  • We are adding captions and subtitles to films and defaulting to a language-matched subtitle track where available.

Known limitations

We’re honest about where we’re not there yet. As of the date below, we are aware of the following limitations and are working to fix them:

  • Colour contrast: some text — notably in the footer and on some film pages — does not yet meet the recommended contrast ratio and can be hard to read.
  • Captions: not all films have English captions or captions for the deaf and hard of hearing (SDH); some films currently offer only a French subtitle track.
  • Page structure: a skip-to-content link and a consistent main content landmark are still being rolled out across all pages.
  • Bilingual parity: some French pages may still display certain content in English while we complete translation.
  • Filmmaker-uploaded content: because films are uploaded by filmmakers, the accessibility of an individual film’s captions or image descriptions can vary; we are improving our submission tools to encourage accessible materials.

We are based in Québec, Canada. As a micro-enterprise non-profit, some accessibility regimes may not legally apply to us, but we treat WCAG 2.1 AA as our voluntary standard because accessible design is the right thing to do and serves our whole community.
