Privacy & Law 25 — A Quick Summary

Cabane à Sang (“CaS”, cabaneasang.tv) is a Québec non-profit (OBNL), and we take your personal information seriously. This page is a plain-language summary, written specifically for our platform, of how we handle your data and your rights under Québec’s Law 25 (the Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information).

This summary complements — it does not replace — our full, detailed privacy and cookie statements. For the complete details on cookies, analytics, and third-party services, please read our full Privacy Statement and Cookie Policy.

What we collect

  • Account information: when you create an account, the details you provide (such as name, email, and login information).
  • Submissions: when you submit a film, profile, or festival entry, the metadata you enter and the images you upload (posters, stills, photos), plus the personal details needed to administer any contract.
  • Analytics and similar technologies: usage and measurement data, which are gated by your consent through our cookie banner — non-essential analytics and marketing technologies only run if you accept them.

We collect this information to operate the platform, publish the catalogue, run the festival, administer filmmaker agreements, and improve the site.

Who is responsible for your information (Law 25)

Law 25 requires us to name a person responsible for the protection of personal information (a “privacy officer”). Ours is:

  • Person responsible: Privacy Officer, Cabane à Sang [[TODO: confirm — name and title of the designated person responsible under Law 25]]
  • Contact: privacy@cabaneasang.tv (also reachable at admin@cabaneasang.tv)

How long we keep it (retention)

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, or as required by law, after which it is destroyed or anonymized. Signed filmmaker contracts and their records are kept as long as needed for our legal and rights-management purposes. [[TODO: confirm — adopt and publish a written retention schedule per data category.]]

Your rights and how to exercise them

Under Law 25 you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Rectify information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date;
  • Withdraw your consent (for example, to non-essential analytics or marketing), at any time;
  • Portability — receive, where applicable, the computerized personal information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used format;
  • Deletion / de-indexing — ask us to delete or stop disseminating your information where the law allows.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@cabaneasang.tv. We will respond within the timeframe required by Law 25 (generally 30 days). We may need to verify your identity before acting. You also have the right to file a complaint with Québec’s Commission d’accès à l’information (CAI).

If there is a breach

If a confidentiality incident involving your personal information occurs and presents a risk of serious injury, we are committed to taking reasonable steps to reduce the harm, to notifying the Commission d’accès à l’information and affected individuals as required by Law 25, and to keeping a record of the incident.
