Aurélia Mengin

Aurélia is an award-winning film director born and raised in Reunion, a French Island near Madagascar. Her parents are the founders of the Contemporary Art Center of Reunion Island, which explains Aurélia ‘s vivid creative style. After a master's degree in economics and mathematics, Aurélia turned to film-making. In her works, she creates a phantasmagorical, sensual and very aesthetic universe. Aurélia has made 8 short films in total. ADAM MINUS EVE, her latest, has been an international success. It was selected at over 30 film festivals and won Best Film at the Toronto Open World Film Festival and Best African Director at the Nigeria International Film Festival. In 2018, she wrote, directed and produced her first feature film FORNACIS, which has been an incredible worldwide success. Thanks to FORNACIS, she is the first Reunion Islander to direct a feature film. FORNACIS has won many prestigious awards; Best Director at the Girona International Film Festival, Best Photography at the International LGBT Film Festival of Houston, the Distinctive Vision Award at Cine-Excess Film Festival in the UK, and Best Fantastic Movie at the International Fantastic Film Festival of Bogota. FORNACIS was released in March 2021 on Amazon Prime.
