Levitico 18.19

Synopsis

ENG A former soldier suffering from PTSD is willing to sell his soul to the Devil just to ease his symptoms. Through hallucinations and different scenes, he'll discover his attempts are pointless. What would happen if you mixed the filmmaking styles of Kubrick and Tarantino in a short film with dreamlike and parodic themes? You'll only find out by watching Leviticus 18.19, a short film that visually expresses the stark contrast between the beauty of nature and the ugliness of human nature through striking landscapes and dreamlike settings. This contrast is all symbolically represented by the sin described in Leviticus 18:19. Levitico 18.19 "You shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness while she is in the time of her menstrual impurity." Therefore, the director interprets Woman as representing Nature, which humanity shouldn't exploit but rather value in the right way, not in the way the protagonist of this short does. Considering the short film's dreamlike and cryptic nature, the audience is invited to discover various and alternative interpretations by associating symbolic significance with phrases, events, characters, stage props, and so on. --- ITA Un ex militare, che soffre di disturbo post traumatico da guerra, è disposto a vendere l’anima al Diavolo pur di alleviare i sintomi di questa patologia. Tra allucinazioni e panorami scoprirà che i suoi tentativi rimarranno vani. Cosa succederebbe se si mischiassero le tecniche cinematografiche di Kubrick e Tarantino in un cortometraggio a temi onirici e parodici? Lo scoprirete solo guardando Levitico 18.19 un cortometraggio che tra panorami suggestivi e contesti onirici esprime visivamente il netto contrasto tra il bello della natura ed il brutto della natura umana. Il tutto rappresentato simbolicamente dal peccato descritto nel passo Levitico 18.19. Levitico 18.19 “Non ti avvicinerai a una donna per scoprire la sua nudità mentre è nel periodo della sua impurità mestruale." Quindi secondo il regista la Donna rappresenta la Natura che l’uomo non dovrebbe stuprare ma apprezzare nel giusto modo e non nel modo in cui lo fa il protagonista di questo corto. Vista la natura onirica e criptica del corto si invita lo spettatore a trovare significati diversi ed alternativi associando valori simbolici a frasi, eventi, personaggi, props di scena ecc...
