Sofia Rubin

Sofia is a Jewish filmmaker born and raised in Queens, NY. She graduated with honors from Northwestern University's Radio/TV/Film program, where she was a Capstone Award recipient for her thesis film about nuns discovering porn. She is a 2x gold, 3x silver National Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards winner, and her screenplay for "CUB" has been placed on a number of international writing awards shortlists. She's currently in development for two more body horror shorts: one about a father and son hunting elk in the mountains of Idaho, and one about a young male nurse whose elderly patients cause him to question his own mortality. Sofia has a professional background in directing and camera, but she's done everything from SFX makeup to boom opping. She also has a black belt in MMA, she's a circus performer, and she's fluent in Spanish. If she wasn't a filmmaker, she'd be a chef. If she were a potato product, she would be vodka. She loves uncomfortable things because she loves to conquer her own fears. And she has stories to tell.
