Lorenzo Ayuso - director portrait

Lorenzo Ayuso

Graduated with distinction in Audiovisual Communication at Carlos III University of Madrid in 2009, Ayuso made his debut as director with 'Evaluación Final', produced by Zampanò. This short film marked the beginning of his career as a filmmaker, which took a qualitative leap in 2016 with the release of 'De-mente', his second and more ambitious work, produced by Amania Films and winner of a handful of awards; and that also extended to directing a series of music videos for bands such as Dardem ('La Noche de San Juan', the award-winning 'El Reloj', 'Canción de fe y devoción'), 'Alquímica' and 'Gilipollas', Nostalghia (Nostalgia, co-directed with Argentinean cinematographer Roberto Castelli) and Murmur ('Sol Invictus', again co-directed with Gómez). He has also continued to work as a writer - for example, he wrote the screenplay for 'Extático', directed by Azahara Gómez and premiered at the 54th Gijon Film Festival - and as a storyboard artist. 'Extreme Gravity' marks the first step in the new stage of his filmography, now associated with Ahora Producciones and ECPV, production company with which he is developing short films and movies, and colaborating with third-party projects as well. When not busy making movies (or trying to make them), he works as film and TV critic for Spanish magazines such as 'verTele', where he serves as editor in chief, 'Cine Divergente' and elDiario.es, among others. He is also an active contributor to several books on cinema published by A contraluz.
