Leo Canali

Leo Canali was born in Forlì, Italy. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a detective, then a comic book artist — and eventually, a filmmaker. He holds a degree in Philosophy from La Sapienza University in Rome, and has directed several fiction short films. Among them, Il Sentimento (2015) was selected at festivals worldwide, winning Best Narrative Short at the Lisbon Independent Film Festival. His latest film, Talking Cure (2023), was officially selected in international competitions. He teaches cinema in schools, where he has directed feature-length educational films involving up to 600 students. He is also the co-host of Casaba, a weekly podcast on cinema and film festivals. --- Leo Canali è nato a Forlì. Da piccolo voleva fare il detective, poi il disegnatore di fumetti, infine il regista. Si è laureato in filosofia all’Università La Sapienza di Roma. Ha realizzato diversi cortometraggi di finzione, tra questi Il Sentimento (2015) è selezionato a festival di tutto il mondo, vincendo Best Narrative Short al Lisbon Indipendent Film Festival. Il suo ultimo cortometraggio, Talking Cure (2023), è stato selezionato a festival in tutto il mondo. Lavora come educatore alle immagini nelle scuole dove ha realizzato lungometraggi con anche 600 studenti coinvolti. È co-host del podcast Casaba, una rubrica di consigli cinematografici e report dai festival.
