Joseph Douglas-Elmhirst

Joseph was born in London in 1998, and studied performing arts before moving to New York City at the age of 14. He went on to study visual arts in Vermont. He wrote, produced and directed MADA whilst staying at his mother's home in Port Antonio, Jamaica. As a first time director, “MADA” is an introduction to the untold stories Joseph intends to tell, exploring his cultural identity through his voice, as well as the female voices of his family - voices he feels are not often heard. He hopes to bring these stories to the screen, with the full humanity and complexity of those he grew up observing.
