Jayden Rathsam Hua

Jayden Rathsam Hua is a Chinese Australian writer/director/producer known for his work in documentaries and horror. His non-fiction works include THE KEY OF B (winner of the Atlanta International Documentary Film Festival 'Gold Award' and 'Best Documentary' at the Ann Arbor Lightworks Film Festival), the SCCI-commissioned film THE CARETAKERS, and RESONANCE (Sydney Film Festival 2024). His horror short, SUSHI NOH, has won multiple awards, including 'Best Screenplay for an Australian Short' at Flickerfest 2023 and Audience Choice at multiple horror festivals in the US, earning over 30 international festival selections before releasing digitally on YouTube's Short of the Week, ALTER, and Vimeo Staff Picks. Jayden is an alumnus of the MIFF Accelerator Lab and TIFF Filmmaker Lab and and won the 2023 Inner West Film Fest Pitching Competition, panelled by Breathless and Causeway Films. He has also juried for the Inner West Young Creatives Awards and the FlickerUp program at Bondi Sydney’s Flickerfest. He has worked in production at Industrial Light and Magic on MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: DEAD RECKONING PART 1, Lingo Pictures, and co-founded the Australian genre-focused production company Cosmic Scream. He is in development as a writer/director for the analogue horror feature MY BODY IS A COSTUME and MATRIARCH, an Asian-Australian domestic horror produced by Ivy Mak with funding support from Screen Australia. He is also a producer for LUNA & THE BRAIN TUNA under the Screen NSW Shorts to Feature Fast Track Initiative, and his upcoming horror short, BELLOE, is due for festival release in 2024.
