Geena Marie Hernandez
Geena Hernandez is a young Latina writer-director born and raised in vibrant South Florida, currently based in Atlanta GA. She is an alum of Florida State University’s film school where her professors selected her as the recipient of the "Bold Reach Award" for her boundary-pushing work, and CHICKS is her debut short film outside of her student work. Geena loves to tell bold, female-driven stories filled with fun twists that bend genre, mix humanity with hilarity, and are saturated in a world of color. Her shorts have screened and won awards at festivals like Florida Film Festival, Dances with Films, Outfest Fusion, NFFTY, Nashville Film Festival, HBO/WarnerMedia’s NY Latino Film Festival, and more. She began her career as the Producer's assistant at Bento Box Animation and TV shows like The Walking Dead (AMC) and Atlanta (FX).
Outside of filmmaking, Geena enjoys color-coordinating her earrings to her outfit and will never pass up an opportunity to do karaoke (poorly, yet passionately.)
