Dave Solomon DAVE SOLOMON is an award-winning New York-based writer and director whose work spans film, television, and theatre. In film and TV, his debut feature, Brenda & Billy (and the Pothos Plant)—starring Santino Fontana, Sarah Stiles, and Catherine Curtin—premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2023 and has since played at over twenty festivals nationwide. The film is now available on platforms such as Screamfest, Film Shortage, and TinyScripted. Solomon has also collaborated with renowned director Bill Condon—assisting on Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast and Mr. Holmes starring Ian McKellen and Laura Linney—and served as Associate Director on Fox’s A Christmas Story Live. His award-winning short films, including photo op (screened at Palm Springs International ShortFest and Outfest Los Angeles) and Cavan, further establish his reputation in the cinematic realm. On stage, Solomon brings a cinematic sensibility to his theatrical projects. He is directing and developing Pump up the Volume, a new musical inspired by the 1990 film starring Christian Slater, and helmed the Japanese premiere of Tootsie the Musical for TOHO Theatrical. As an Associate Director, he has contributed to eleven Broadway productions alongside industry figures like Joe Mantello and Scott Ellis, underscoring his versatile creative vision. A Vassar College graduate, Solomon continues to push creative boundaries across mediums and is represented by Michael Finkle (theatre) and Hannah Davis (film) at William Morris Endeavor. |
