WEIRDTHINGS MOTTOLESI - Chronicles from the Anthropocene

Synopsis

It's the early 21st century, and a quiet provincial town seems to be in turmoil; heaps of garbage appear everywhere, and at the same time, an alternate dimension manifests itself intermittently with the presence of strange entities. However, a group of courageous kids decides to confront this unhealthy situation... Amidst bizarre antics, messes, and unlikely gadgets, will they be able to face a problem far bigger than themselves? We will receive confirmation that unity is strength, that friendship is the most beautiful of bonds, but it will be equally painful to discover that negativity hides in unsuspected and self-righteous forms. ADDITIONAL DESCRIPTION: A parodic short film born from the idea of ​​addressing (with irony) some thorny environmental issues: waste disposal, the uncivilized behavior of certain individuals, and the ignorance and misinformation that pollute the debate on climate change. The protagonists are young people from the Maranatha social cooperative in Mottola (Italy): their participation has given rise to a broader educational project. The upside-down world becomes a metaphor for a parallel dimension where incivility (reversed civilized behavior) takes refuge; the camera trap symbolizes the impotence of society and institutions; the Dirty One, a chameleon-like entity, embodies the many faces (apparently opposite and irreconcilable) with which ignorance and negativity are masked. There is no happy ending here, no triumphant victory. It is an ironic, grotesque, yet merciless snapshot of reality. Rather, it's an invitation to awareness, a gradual journey toward consciousness. Welcome to the Anthropocene.
