Emma
Synopsis
Emma, a 25-year-old, is sitting alone in a restaurant. As she tries to enjoy her evening, the gestures of the waiter and the looks of the customers involuntarily project her into traumatic memories from a few months ago. In her flashback, she finds herself in an apartment with her best friend Noah. They start having fun and drinking to make him forget about his breakup. However, the situation takes a dark turn when Noah begins making unwanted advances toward her, which evolve into an act of sexual violence. Back in the present, she visualizes the waiter and the men in the restaurant with pig heads, symbolizing her perception of men being disrespectful to women. To illustrate her distress, she imagines the men making inappropriate looks and gestures, thus reinforcing Emma's feelings about her experience. The memories, the rape, his imagination, the men with the heads of pigs and reality mix in accelerated fashion. The situation reaches its climax when the waiter, with a pig's head, brings a dish under a bell and reveals a pig's head. Emma, overwhelmed by her emotions, screams and sticks a fork into the pig's head. Suddenly, everything returns to normal, marking his desperate attempt to regain control after the trauma he suffered.
