Rock Brenner — director portrait

Rock Brenner

Rock Brenner was born on March 31, 1989 in Haguenau (France). It was during his chaotic schooling that he took refuge in writing and watching films. He developed a great passion for films made with little, but with strong and uninhibited ideas. In 2010, he entered Performing Arts at the University of Strasbourg, which he left after a year and a half to earn a living and carry out his own projects. In 2018, he theatrically released in France the self-produced feature "I Am Robert" ("La Capitale du Bruit").

His life experience has led him to tackle recurring themes in his filmography: loneliness, the ambiguity of friendly relations, the perversity of social ties and our relationship to sexuality. His protagonists are often out of touch with the world and he does not hesitate to use dark humor to develop his stories. Passionate about writing dialogue, Rock takes great pleasure in writing amazing exchanges that give way to unease and nervous laughter. He also likes to draw a blurred border between reality and fiction so that the viewer has a more immersive experience.

He is currently writing Marcello, a short film followed by a production company, works for the SVOD platform Outbuster and organizes the East Film Festival in Strasbourg.
