Pablo Otero

Pablo studied Film, Television and Live Event Directing at CES School of Image and Sound. In 2004, he began developing his career as a short film producer and director. During this period, he directed the medium-length film Nexo (2008), which was screened at the Seville European Film Festival. In 2011, he moved to Madrid, where he directed his next short film, North South East West, produced by Old Fashioned. In 2012, the film returned to the Seville European Film Festival and secured a distribution agreement with FREAK Independent Film Agency. In 2013, he relocated to London, where he began his career as a VFX Artist. His name can be found in the credits of major international productions such as Alien: Covenant (Ridley Scott, 2017), Alita: Battle Angel (Robert Rodriguez, 2019), Avengers: Endgame (Anthony and Joe Russo, 2019), Mank (David Fincher, 2020), The Mandalorian: Season 3 (2023), and The Little Mermaid (Rob Marshall, 2023), among others. In 2023, Pablo Otero decided to apply the knowledge acquired throughout his career as a VFX Artist to an independent production of his own. This process resulted in Bâba, a fantasy-infused short film that received several national and international awards, including the Bronze Little Skull at Mórbido Film Fest 2023. His subsequent work, Umbra, is currently completing its distribution circuit and has been selected for over 100 national and international film festivals, where it has received awards such as Best Short Film at the Bajo la Luna International Film Festival (Islantilla) and Best Andalusian Short Film at the Granada International Film Festival – Premios Lorca, among others. He currently continues to work on international productions while developing new film projects. Alongside his creative work, he is also involved in education, collaborating as a VFX instructor at ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya) and teaching acting at El Laboratorio de Interpretación in Seville.
