Jessica Moore

Jessica Q. Moore is a writer/director from Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn of Caribbean descent. She proudly identifies as a Butch Lesbian. Identifying strongly with the 70s reclamation of the term, DYKE. Her love for cinema began at an early age in the international film section of the public libraries in New York. Influenced by artists, such as John Waters, Barbara Hammer, Yimou Zhang and Cheryl Dunye. Enraptured by how films can simultaneously mirror and create worlds, she continued her study of filmmaking and studies at Syracuse University, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts, then attending City College of New York for her Master of Fine Arts. Jessica’s interest in films that involve relationships within a societal structure has been formalized in different genres and experimentation within the film medium. In her master’s thesis Last Summer on Bainbridge Street, a short neo-realistic narrative film, she explored the interpersonal effects of gentrification in Brooklyn. The film has been featured in many film festivals across North America and has been awarded the 2020 National Board Review Award. Once and Again, a micro-short is currently being screened in film festivals.
