Johannes Gerard

Born in Cologne in 1959. Works as an interdisciplinary and multimedia artist. Film and video make up a large part of his projects and work. Has lived and worked to date in various countries in Europe, the Far East, North and South America, West Africa and Australia. Currently lives in The Hague, Netherlands. Studied at the School of Printmaking and Design, Cologne, Germany and at the Dun Laogharie School of Art and Design (IADT) Dublin, Ireland. First experiments with time lens-based works in 2012. But it was not until 2014 that he began producing his first videos, films and performance pieces through collaboration with the dancer Tsai Hsin-Ying (Kaohsiung, Taiwan) and the performance artist Kao Yi (Tainan, Taiwan) during the “Silent Crossing Border” project in the Soulangh Culture Park (Tainan, Taiwan). Since 2014, regular participation in exhibitions, projects, video and film festivals in Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, West Africa and Asia. Many video and film works are intercultural cooperation projects with dancers such as Tsai Hsin-Ying (Tainan, Taiwan) and Jana Schmück (Bautzen, Germany), theater groups such as DFT Stage, (St. Petersburg, Russia), the musicians Ulrich Thiem (Dresden, Germany) and Yahoo Acharay (Bhaktapur, Nepal) or poets such as Jennifer Tonge (USA).
