Richard Rotter

Richard Rotter is an Emmy-nominated, CSA, and Rockie Award-winning filmmaker from Toronto. After years of directing and producing acclaimed documentaries and kids TV for NBC, Discovery, and History, he transitioned into horror. His short Blood Line earned multiple Best Short Film awards and a nomination for the 2024 DGC Award.

Meat Crayon doubles down on that genre pivot: visceral scares, pitch-black satire, and the kind of energy that says “yes, this is messed up, and yes, you’re going to laugh.” It kicked off its festival run with a proper bloodbath of awards and screenings, including the Golden Skull at Morbido, a Silver Screen award at Toronto After Dark, and notable stops at Fantaspoa ‘26, BIFF ‘26, Imagine Fantastic Film Festival, Terror Molins, Paris International Fantastic Film Festival, and FilmQuest.
