Aida Elkerdany - director portrait

Aida Elkerdany

Aida Elkerdany is an Egyptian animator, illustrator and designer based in Cairo and Boston. Growing up in Sweden, and yet to understand a lick of Swedish or English, she would spend hours glued to the TV watching cartoons without understanding a single word that was said, sparking a strong connection to animation and the stories it would tell. Aida would later go on to ignore her French Scientific Baccalaureate to go study Animation and Creative Writing in Boston, Massachusetts. Specializing in 2D frame-by-frame, Aida pulls her inspirations from a multitude of autobiographical black and white comics (“WELCOME TO ST. HELL”, Lewis Hancox), discontinued animation series (“Infinity Train',' Owen Dennis) and multimedia horror. Aida believes animation has immense horror potential that remains unexplored and would like to produce work that proves it but this senior in Animation at Massachusetts College of Art and Design is also interested in teaching as well as producing children’s media.
