Réalisé par Vadir Sottelo
Vadir Sottelo is a director, screenwriter, and film producer with a solid trajectory in the genres of horror, fantasy, and suspense, known for a powerful visual style and storytelling deeply committed to human rights, memory, and identity. His academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Media with a specialization in Cinematography, a Master's in Marketing, and a Doctorate in Human Rights, which has allowed him to develop a multidisciplinary approach that bridges the artistic with the social.
Since 1998, he has built a career as an independent filmmaker, marked by aesthetic experimentation, the creation of unsettling atmospheres, and the construction of symbolic worlds. His work stands out for integrating elements of body horror, magical realism, and structural critique, addressing themes such as gender violence, social exclusion, and resilience from a sensitive and innovative perspective.
As the founder of Novatrice Studios, his production company since 2002, he has led numerous audiovisual projects—from short films to feature films and music videos—with international presence in over a dozen countries, including Mexico, France, Germany, the United States, Canada, Colombia, Italy, India, Venezuela, and Spain. His work has been selected and awarded at international festivals such as the Global Short Film Awards (Cannes), the Premios Latino de Oro (Marbella), and the Macabro Horror Film Festival (Mexico City).
In parallel, he has taught workshops and provided consulting on genre cinema, production, makeup and character design, animation, and art direction, becoming an active figure in the training of new generations of creators.
Vadir Sottelo represents a unique voice in contemporary Mexican cinema: an auteur who transforms the unsettling into beauty, and the social into a space for reflection—through images that move, confront, and endure.
